My horse has a receding gum line

I know better than to look a gift horse in the mouth (does the title make sense now?), but I have to wonder if $240 for 2 hours and 20 minutes of work is really worth 5 hours and 40 minutes of thumb-twiddling for me or my client . . .

LOL! The title does make sense now. :))

Consider it time to meditate, time to reflect, or time to clear off the desk. It's like the game my dad taught us as kids - the Make a Noise Like a Post game, where we had to be the quietiest one in order to win. (he's a genius)

It's frustrating to sit, isn't it?

I shall meditate and reflect, but I can't clean off the desk--it's not mine! I'm onsite, working from the copy editor's office.

Re: Make a Noise Like a Post--if I'm playing by myself, how do I know whether I win or lose? ;)

If no one can hear you, you win. Then again, if a post screams in a field and no one's around to hear it....

Okay, if you can't clean the desk, how about a handheld game of Yahtzee? :))

I could play slots on my PDA . . . there's nothing quite as exhilarating as winning and losing fake money.

Thanks--the highlight of my day today (the 2 hours, 20 minutes happened Thursday) was cleaning the keys on the copy editor's keyboard. The colon/semicolon key was particularly grimy! So I guess at the very least I left his office a little nicer than I found it.
