Achoo

One of the less talked-about benefits of working from home is that I have less contact with other people's germs. I used to get at least one cold a year--but I've been freelancing full-time for about a year and a half, and haven't had a cold (or flu, or any other communicable illness) in all that time.

And now, in my 2nd month of working on-site with one of my clients, I'm starting to feel the once-familiar signs of that sneaky little bug. I cling to the hope that I'm just having a wicked allergy attack, but that hope fades a bit with each sniffle, sneeze and cough that aren't assuaged by my daily dose of Zyrtec.

*sigh*

When I go in to my client's office today, I'm taking a bottle of hand sanitizer. They may have given me a cold, but I don't have to return the favor.

Try Airborne when you feel those first icky symptoms. Works great. My immune system is cast iron after teaching little ones for 4 years. I got inoculated regularly by them. :)

Hope you shake it off!

I used to take that stuff all the time . . . maybe I should start again! I like the pink grapefruit flavor.

I agree with Angie. Airborne is great. Teachers around my area use it religously. I get upset at the people in my office who have many off days built up but yet refuse to stay at home when they are sick and contagious. Then people like me who have very few off days have to stay out and use up what I have. (I finally took a day off, today, without being sick.) And I keep a HUGE bottle of hand sanitizer on my desk not only for my hands, but my phone as well. You never know where those germs are lurking. Hope you get to feeling better soon.

Did you ever notice that the moment you step into an unfamiliar office, you're sick within a few days? Oy. I think for me it's a combination of a new routine and exposure to new germs.

Odd, but since I've gone vegetarian, I rarely get sick. The last cold was maybe 4 years ago and on the heels of a flight (Springtime germs being recirculated - gotta love it!). In general the diet change has triggered better health - my dental cleanings are an absolute breeze now!

I have to agree with Lori ... there's something about being vegetarian that boosts one's immune system.

Hope you feel better soon!

I'd probably be one of those vegetarians whose hair falls out from poor nutrition, so maybe I better stay an omnivore . . .
